Did you know Chiropractic was founded in 1895 in Davenport Iowa?

The founder of chiropractic, DD Palmer, was a magnetic healer studying anatomy and physiology, when he began researching the effects of spinal misalignments on the nervous system. He was the first to find the science behind adjustments of the spinal bones and the impact it could make on the body. He gave the first adjustment on a janitor who had been deaf after a box fell on his head 17 years prior. DD examined the spine, found a misalignment in his upper back and administered the first chiropractic adjustment.

After 3 adjustments, the janitor had his hearing back.

D.D. began to develop the science, art and philosophy behind chiropractic, with his son, B.J. Palmer, as one of his top students. B.J took his father’s findings further and now we have the chiropractic profession that we have today.

There are many different techniques within chiropractic, but as chiropractors we all share the mission to correct misalignments (or subluxations) in the spine, and free the body of the nerve interference these misalignments cause. With nerve interference, our brain cannot communicate with our bodies at one hundred percent, resulting in the aches, pains and discomforts that we feel on a daily basis.

There have been positive results from chiropractic with

  • Headaches and migraines
  • Low Back Pain
  • Neck Pain
  • Shoulder tension
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Anxiety and Depression
  • Athletic Performance
  • Thyroid Concerns
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Sleep Issues
  • Ear Infections
  • Digestive Issues
  • …and many more!

As chiropractors, we focus on healing the body naturally from the inside out, not the outside in with medications or surgeries. We do know that there is a time and place for medical interventions, but it is not always your first option.

In our blog, we will be diving more into how chiropractic care can help with everything listed above and more diseases and symptoms that chiropractic care has helped with!
